Nothing wrong with math, but I really do suck at cooking...Even when I try to follow the recipe I forget something from it. And then I go to play piano/use the computer while I wait for it to finish and when I finally remember to check on the whatever's cooking it's ruined.

So I am officially a moron  :-[

but you see you didn't wreck a dish becuase you can't follow directions, you were so involved with following directions elsewhere you just just forgot. that's not moronic. it's just being focused. you're good. don't worry.

I'd rather be a moron though than be forced to cook on a daily basis :)

Maths is ok for those who apply themeslves to its language -but I think the guy -or guy-ess who wrote that has anger issues and should seek some kind of help -

Mathematics is like cooking? Nah! I've never cut my fingers doing maths.  ::)

I thought it was funny.  I will type lol so you know I laughed.

It's written in typical internet syntax.  I'm sure that person doesn't really have anger issues, that is just the way of the internet :P

His comparison of math to cooking was quite interesting.  Personally, I think that cooking is a bit more like music.  There are technical problems sometimes but when you really have passion for it it shows.

I seen that badge idea in action with music many times.  People will start bragging about how bad they are with music, playing an instrument, etc.  I've never understood it.  It's like saying, "All those letters!  I don't even know the alphabet.  I opened a book once and there was all these lettery things and I said no way man.  I had a teacher that tried to show me that once but they expected me to look at the letters outside of class."  People bragging about ignorance or sloppiness or lack of discipline.

I subscribe: the main difference for me is that cooking is boring, math is fascinating...

I think it is quite understandable if people act that way, because most of us would want to be good at musical activities and unfortunately many of us are not, at least not without hard work. So it's just a defensive mechanism.

OTOH I always found it incomprehensible how anyone could actually not care about music at all...how can you live without it? It's like food and sleep, it's essential to ones well-being... But I have met a few peple like this, so it must be possible  ::)

There is material here for a stand up comedian for sure -I think some people exaggerate how bad they are at something so that it becomes a kind of joke -maybe the joke is on them admittedly -I tried hard to be good at maths -even got to attempt basic calculus -but I didn't have a passion for it -you can't force people to have passion for something they don't excel at -average doesn't cut it -struggle doesn't help -I am sure there are different kinds of thinkers also -those who suck up technical problems like human hoovers and spit out sense -others who think algebra was invented to torture them personally -people who prefer analysing Sex In the City - -I love it that a 'I suck at Math T shirt' can inspire that kind of mega rant -lol
