I'm a woman and I probably couldn't care less what Martha looked like. The 3 times I've seen Martha play was the best concert experience of my life. First, there's the sound she produces- full and powerful, silvery and nimble when needed, with seemingly effortless touch. Her playing is always exciting because she takes risks like no other performer and you can never predict what will happen next. Also her connection to whatever she plays feels so authentic and never contrived. Contrary to popular belief her slow movements are the best part of her recital, she brings out the emotions like no other. As a recording artist she isn't my favourite but she is the only pianist I'm willing to chase around the world if I had money, and I would not miss her for anything if she played in my town.

BTW how did Lola get dragged into this Argerich conversation ? Her technique, command of piano or the ability to communicate isn't a patch on Martha. She really labours through pieces and her emotions are banal and false. There's a reason she's not famous.
