Thinking too much
on: October 07, 2012, 11:52:15 PM
Sometimes I "create" a problem that I wasn't already aware of by thinking too much. (usually when I lie down to sleep)

It's good that I now have the opportunity to fix the problem, but it just creates so much stress.

"Ah, that was a long day. But at least now I can finally sleep and wake up to a better day."

*some mental spark*

"Oh crap, I forgot to write that essay for art history!"

Yep, but if I've got my stuff organized, then no.  Or I can mentally shout it down.  That stuff will keep cropping back, even years after when you don't have any essay due.

I thought it was going to be a post about slowing yourself down or mistakes from thinking too much about something.  It always seems like it's other people who tell you think too much though, isn't it?

All you ever had was an old boot. The fish was never there.

If you forget about your homework, it's not a problem until you remember it. That said, forgetting important things will be quite rough in reminding you about them.

Hence the saying blissfully unaware? I often forget my bus stop, which is why i drive, as i don't day dream out the window then...well, as often. And if I do it will only be a problem if i remember ive hit someone.. well to me anyway, it wont matter to the other guy if i remember or not ive hit him.

- the premise is incorrect, the problem is forgetting because the issue is present regardless.
Unless you were referring to a RAM module (to remember deletes previous data), or PTSD - What a lovely forest... creatures scampered seamlessly in any direction - disappearing and reappearing like the long wispy patterns created by a dying summer hue, filtered through the folia....HOLY sh*t CHARLIE IN THE TREES. (come to candy mountain). *breaks down and cries at remembering*....(how bad my story writing is)

Then the statement might be correct....thinking too much.

How can there be a problem if you aren't aware it is a problem? It's only a problem when you become aware of it. Mind you, life has nasty ways of reminding you. It's that OH S*** I FORGOT moment. When you are not aware of a problem, it does not bother you at all. And if life doesn't remind you, then you can go your whole life without realizing it. However, because the issue is present whether you are aware of it or not, life will remind you of your problems.

Take an example. Homework. You forget your homework. You aren't aware that there was homework due the next day. It doesn't bother you at all that you didn't do your homework because you are not AWARE that it needed doing. Let's say you suddenly remember. Then it's a problem and you need to fix it. Now, let's say you don't remember at all. You come to school the next day, and your teacher says pass in your homework. BAM you remember and now the homework is a problem.

I'm not saying forget about everything and you will be happy. I'm just analyzing the idea of blissful ignorance. Everything is problem free until you remember your problem.

Taking your example. If you hit someone but don't realize it, it won't bother you until you find out that he/she's been hit. What if you never realize he/she's been hit? Then you will go your whole life without realizing it and you have no problem with it. People who know the man may have a problem, but you won't. Because you don't know. Now then, if a police officer comes to your house one day and tells you what you did, then you have a problem.

As they say, what you don't know can't hurt you. Until you know it. Then it can hurt you.
This only applies psychologically.

The premise is correct. It's just that forgetting a problem has a tendency to exacerbate the problem ONCE YOU REMEMBER IT.
