Who are you?!
on: October 10, 2012, 02:12:04 PM
In this thread, I want users to say some things about themselves.
For example: How many years have you been playing the piano? Are you a student, an amateur, a professional concert pianist, a teacher? and other things like that, just to know each other! ;)

About me, I have been playing the piano for 10 years and I'm still a student, but I want to become a professional pianist.

This should be fun:

Biomedical Engineering grad student on the weekdays, club hopping/money wasting drunkard on the weekends, and a budding amateur pianist during any spare moment I get between all that.

I've been playing for 14 years, though it sounds like I've only played for about a decade. My goal with piano is to learn a few major pieces by each major composer in the four major eras of classical. And spread the word on classical for the next generation of course.

I been playing 12 years since 6 years old til 18, then on and off till now ( I'm 25 so another 7 years on top) went to Chetham's School of Music.

I now play for fun, fitness instructor/ Personal Trainer and not regretting anything.

My current goal, learn hungarian rhapsody no2 and Grand Gallop Chromatique by Franz Liszt. And relearning my old repetoire (chopin fantasy impromtu, beethoven moonlight sonata 1 and 3rd movements) rach Csharp and G minor preludes, Chopin etudes for fun.

I like to play anime and final fantasy music and yes I am one of those anime game piano players haha.

I am a student, maybe i will play for charity or public events, not dreamed about being pro, or i would of went to music college, to me piano is a very lonely instrument, but perfect for those chillout sessions which I now use it for.

Why not... 70 years old, retired Minister of Music/organist... now playing piano because a) I love it; b) now I can without interfering with the organ (they don't mix well) and c) I have a lovely Steinway grand to play on...

and it's purely and simply for my own pleasure!

Sixty-five year old retired IT manager and programmer. Played since very young. Studied with the New Zealand composer Llewelyn Jones but no formal or academic training. Much composing in the past but now largely supplanted by recorded improvisation as an end in itself. Main interests: improvisation, composition, late romantic, classical and contemporary ragtime, some stride, some swing, but generally eclectic. Have always maintained technique with a Virgil Practice Clavier. Works for me. Piano is a 5' 10" Weinbach, bought new in 1971, completely worn out, rebuilt 2005 and hopefully will see me out because nothing in the shops takes my fancy.

I'm 15, and I've been playing the piano for 4 years! I LOVE it. There's nothing like it!

I recently started teaching a student, and as the years go by I hope to teach many more (from home).

It's my dream to get a music scholarship; the only way I'll study music at my dream college!

I also love performing, even though it makes me nervous. I always look forwards so much to recitals!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mozart and Chopin! I can't get enough of them, and they are delightful to play.

All things piano, I am ecstatic about. My friends often say they are at home in a book store, but I am best at home in a piano store! I dream of a Steinway concert grand...Haha...In a lifetime.

My teacher works at a college,  is a professional accompanist, and a joy to learn from. Lessons are always a blast!!
Joy,
Student/Teacher

Student of 4 years

Currently Practicing:
Pirates Of the Carribean- Jarrod Radnich
Mozart Concerto, 2 Piano
Bach Invention
Mozart Rondo

I'm 14 (since August), but feel more like 12 (don't really like to be called a teenager  ::) ).  :P I have been learning piano for exactly 3 years (but before that I was learning to play on a keyboard a little for fun for about a year). I am grade 5 at music school and grade 9 at school.  :P I LOVE playing piano but I wish I had more time to practice and no stupid neighbours!!!  ::) I also love animals and have lots of pets. I'm also weird in a lot of ways and that's all I can think of right now. Oh oh... And in September it was exactly 3 years since I joined Pianostreet!  :P  8)  :)

I'm 29, a software engineer, and I've been playing piano for almost exactly eleven years. Or is it twelve? I forget now. I came to pianostreet in 2002 or 2003 or so and met ted, asking him about piano improvisation. A years long correspondence ensued and piano improvisation became a surprising and amazingly beautiful part of my life. I attempted to learn to play classical pieces from sheet music, but I never applied myself very much in this area, and have finally mostly given up on it. I never gave up on improvisation though and it continues to be a very important part of my life.

I own a Kawai upright piano, a Sabathil & Son Clavichord Dolce, and a Roland HP-302 digital piano. My parents who live nearby have a beautiful 6'3" Petrof Model III grand, which I get to play on sometimes.

Aside from musical things, I made my very own nintendo game (yes, the old NES) and it is actually available for sale to people who still own and play their old NES.

I'm 18 years of age. I've been playing the piano for 3 going on 4 (this coming December).. but I don't measure in years. That means NOTHING. The hard work you put in means everything. I'm also studying piano and organ performance at a University here in 'Murica (America haha)!
