Which Way to go from here
on: October 30, 2012, 11:29:17 PM
I have completed Pachabel's Canon, Jesu,Joy of Man's Desire, The Magdalena Collection, Standard Pop numbers and am looking for a Peice to focus on now. I am a beginner, have a great teacher (downfall is problems with memorization due to tramatic brain injury) Teacher says I am a good sight reader. Want something that sounds good and will build skills been imbedded in Bach, but have been in a slump lately, neurological + depression appreciate any help God Bless

I would think your teacher would have suggestions for you if not outright pick the next piece.. My suggestion is move slowly to Bach two part inventions ( just take your time with them), while working on those start some Sonatinas from various composers. Also a natural migration would be to try some Clementi works.
Your teacher will know better what you can actually handle. Meanwhile take a look at some of those suggestions. Incidentally, Clementi's Sonatinas are very musical and pretty actually. Maybe try level 3 and 4 versions. You can sample some right here at PS, go to Piano Music at the top of the page and click on composers A-K, Clementi is in the drop down list. Then click on Sonatinas.

Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.
