Hello all,
I'm still in the process of trying to become proficient with the piano. I took lessons in the past, worked with different teachers, tried a number of approaches, but it is really hard!! because I sometimes feel frustrated that I can't read or play fast enough, and that undermines my motivation to go on, so I end up giving up.
I can study a piece and learn it by heart, but then after a while if I don't touch that music, when I go back to it, I practically have to start from scratch... read at a very slow pace, etc... and that's when I give up. There's something I'm definitely doing wrong...
I would like to be able to read a score and play it decently. I honestly don't mind spending endless hours a day practicing, as long as I feel motivated and move forward. I think I just need the right method.
Any ideas on the best technique/practices books out there that I should follow?
Any suggestions? Or should I just give up? I'm 32, and I really wished I could go back in time and start with lessons at age 5... but is there hope for a guy like me to still become proficient?
Any advise would be appreciated!
Thanks,
