Warm-ups
on: November 03, 2012, 03:17:52 AM
What are some warm-ups you guys do? I am just beginning to learn how to play and I really need to work on my coordination and getting the hands to be able to do two different things at the same time.

oh that was from a previous post I made about what I though to be e sharps and c flats but I didn't see the bass clef before a certain part (I'm a newbie) in In the Hall of the Mountain King. I just modified the post to be about warm ups since my original post was pretty dumb on my part.

I often warm up doing arppegiated chords that are in the piece I want to work on. I may do scales or I may just play something I already know and isn't too difficult, just to get my hands at the keys. I do that if I've been away a couple of days. Playing just about anything is a decent warm up IMO, hands together, hands alone , what ever. To me it's about getting into the keys..
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.
