on: November 06, 2012, 09:05:28 PM
I have to write an essay on this (think program notes), but apparently this piece is so obscure that not many sources write about it... any help please??

If I may guess a few things and comment of others?
a. Is it for school or homework? If so it's not exactly right to go round asking for such advice.
b. I get a feeling that this is one of those cases that you won't find much on the Internet, so you might as well look for alternatives.
c. Your alternative being doing your own hardcore work: Analysis of the work, and research on your local library (I do have a book on Arvo Part, from Oxford Press, for example, but not with me right now. Once I get in the studio I'll let you know if there's anything worthwhile in it. But this might take a full day, so you're better off visiting your local library, or at least checking their online catalog to see if there's anything in there that might interest you).
d. If all the above seem futile you could also contact the publishers, in hopes that, since he's a contemporary composer, there might be information.
e. Even more (though I do doubt it, due to the magnitude of his status), you could potentially contact himself directly somehow.. Then again I'm not sure that he has a facebook page!
but recently I was met with a very interesting situation: I'm 35 years old, composer, and a mod in a rather well known music forum about virtual instruments. Lately there's this guy posting, who very truly and uniquely is Hans Zimmer himself (proven by people who know him)!!!! In case you don't know who Hans Zimmer is, I'll just mention a couple of movies he's scored: Pirates of the Carribean, Batman begins, returns, etc... A HUGE name (probably the biggest).
So there's hope everywhere...
f. Plus with a contemporary score you can't really give us a link for it, right? So anyone who doesn't know the piece, has absolutely no chance of giving any kind of information...
