Really needing help!!!
on: November 12, 2012, 03:06:53 AM
My family and I have purchased a home. Along with this house with also were left with a Grand Piano. It is a Grotian Steinweg Nachf Braunschweg. I am trying to find out what I have here. Or if it worth anything. I have looked this item up and it has a lot of information but not having any experiance with pianos I am lost. So I was wondering if anyone could help. Thank you in advance!!!! Jenn

You can find out the approximate age using the serial number (probably located on the frame) and going here:

https://www.besbrodepianos.co.uk/pianoserialnumber/grotrian.htm

Current price ranges here:

https://www.bluebookofpianos.com/grotrian.htm

Or contact the manufacturer (still a going concern) via their website:

The serial number is 20410. So does that mean it is from around 1908?

You may find the wikepedia article on these pianos interesting. It would appear you have quite a gem there. Depending on it's condition, it may need some work to bring it back to full life, but it would be well worth it (either for yourself to enjoy or financially).

From what we can gather the "good and fair" price is around 10-12k or more. But with todays economy I am doubting we can get that at all. So I guess it is a "make me an offer" thing lol. It has a couple of books under the seat but I have no idea what they are.
