Some Advice
on: October 17, 2004, 02:52:45 AM
Within the last week I tried something to help prep some pieces for performance and so far the results have been good. What I've done is taken out a video camera and a recorder and played. As a result of this, I got nervous and tried hard to play my best (which is very similar to the situation of a performance) and made mistakes. I took note of what parts I made mistakes on. I practiced through these parts using the various useful methods (many of which have been suggested by Bernhard and others on this forum). After a few days, while 'performing' for the camera and such, these passages no longer give me trouble and the performance is cleaner and smoother. I suggest this to anyone worried about botching up their pieces, as it's a great way to see what parts collapse under pressure! Any commments welcome...  :)

That's a great idea.  I'll try it.  It'll also be a good way to critique ones own performance.
