Mozart k485, Evil turns !!
on: November 19, 2012, 11:45:24 PM
ok, so I am learning this beautiful piece by Mozart! K485 Rondo

However, there are turns, specifically bar 32 and 33, I cant play them any where near the speed they need to be at. ~ How can I train my fingers so that "turns" in general can be played to a high perfect standard.

Practice them. Start slowly and build up speed slowly while maintaining control. Eventually, they will become a single movement for you; a single controllable movement.  It's a matter of training the brain, so it takes time, but you should have a kind of breakthrough moment where it all comes together.

Don't practice obsessively for hours on end, though. No more than 5 minutes twice a day should do the trick just as quickly.

Thanks, because they are so short I get frustrated, but I will try and limit to 5mins 2x a day, ~ I have found in general playing playing for no more than 10mins a time (maybe up to 6 times per day) helps with little sections! + Now you told me that I will look at more sections of the music.,

I`ll be interested to read of other peoples opinions :)

Ive asked on another forum about the turns issue, but I`ll ask here to

Mozart k485

ABRSM edition. This edition shows turns on bars 29 and 31. the turn starts on a C there for you play the D note above it first. thus being D.C.B.C before going to the D in the next bar..

However bars 32 and 33 are a little bit more confusing. + After listening to many recordings on youtube im none the wiser

The turn symbol starts on a B .. unlike bars 29 and 31 (according to performance notes at the bottom of the page.. it doesnt go up a note to C..

Infact it tells me to play B.C.B.A.B ~ before going to C.

My question is, why is the turn treated differently in bars 32 & 33 ? Is it right?
