Mastering the keyboard without looking
on: February 12, 2003, 10:31:20 PM
Need some help.  Been playing piano for years.  I wish to master the instrument without looking at the keyboard.  Any suggestions!

Play from a challenging musical score and then you would have to  keep your eyes carefully on the page of music. Accompanying demands a high level of sight-reading ability as well as meticulous following of the musical score.

Do difficult sight-reading which is an excellent means of training eye keyboard coordination.

The challenge is to keep the head still, relaxed but not rigid and to glance occasionally at the keyboard by moving the eyes, not the head.

Good luck!
Robert.

Robert,

Many thanks for the very encouraging suggestion.  I have lots of materials to work on, I just don't have the needed time to practice, unlike when I was a kid.  I am actually teaching piano.  Most of my students have the potentials.  But I want them to use their abilities to a better advantage.

Have a nice day!

1. Blindfold
2. Turn off the lights
3. Shock treatment if you look down

Wonder if this post is a timely enough response.

I already did.  Do you suppose bayani will be around to see your thread?  Especially since this thread was started in Feb, 2003 ;D
