LRSM Program. Please help.
on: December 02, 2012, 03:31:26 PM
Hi all,

I am trying to build a LRSM program that is balanced. The first 2 works are already decided. I am left with a 3rd piece or 3rd and 4th piece.

Any advice on whether these programs here will work:

1. Haydn Sonata in C major Hob. XVI/50

2. Mendelssohn Rondo Capriccioso

3. Bach Partita in C minor or Kabalevsky Sonata No. 3 or Prokofiev Sonata No. 2

or

3. Debussy L'Isle joyeuse

4. Ginastera Danzas Argentinas

I think you're best off with the 4 piece program, since you have a classical sonata and something Romantic. Anyway, L'Isle Joyeuse is a really amazing piece.

I am neither a teacher nor a professional, but please allow me to give my humble thoughts.

Four pieces sound more balanced than three.  However, I think the more important thing is that you need to pick the most confident and comfortable piece(s).  If the Debussy and Ginastera aren't so, then perhaps you pick Bach, Kabalevsky or Prokofiev whichever you feel best.

Good luck!
