I finally have a private piano student!
on: December 09, 2012, 11:23:50 PM
I'm now a piano teacher!

I was contacted last week by a Korean family who just moved here. They were looking for a teacher for their 13-year-old daughter. Apparently some of the local teachers recommended me to this family, as they had heard me perform and knew I was looking for a position as piano teacher. I just heard from the family again, and apparently they want to start lessons next week! Yay! And I also heard that this girl is very talented, playing pieces such as Beethoven's Sonata Op. 27 No. 1. I hope lessons go well!

I know what you mean. I think having a student will teach me more about the piano than playing piano ever will.

Heard her play Voiles yesterday, when I met her to get to know her, etc. before lessons. I have to say, she is really talented. Especially for someone who is 13...

The age effects the talent too?...
and because you first became a teacher theres no way you'd know. I wish you the best of luck, but don't judge things like talent tooo quickly.

I've heard many 12-13 year olds attempt to play Voiles, and she is the best I have heard so far. But you're right about the talent thing.

nice :D
Keep a friendly relationship with the parents, but try not to be too friendly with the student. The best thing a teacher can do is to get the full respect of a student, and the student will always try his/her best at lesson, respond to the teacher naturally instead of just repeating robotically everything they practiced.

which movement of the beethoven sonata
