on: December 17, 2012, 02:57:34 PM
hi new here!
my mom wants to purchase a yamaha clavinova. we are in philippines btw.
i have a friend whom i buy my instruments from who has some old model clavinova's.
i dont know anything about piano so i will need your help guys especially the technology involved.. i just want my mom to purchase a nice clavinova she only wants it simple and that will sound and feel almost like an acoustic piano. no need for other effects.
so the seller has these models:
CVP-92, CLP-156, cvp85, CLP-133, Clp711, Clp930, Clp950c

Yamaha has age information at https://www.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/chron.php
    CVP85    1993
    CVP92    1997
    CLP133    not listed
    CLP156    not listed
    CLP711    not listed
    CLP930    2000
    CLP950    2000

This information shows when each model was first produced.
They generally continue to make these models for around three years.

Some of the ones you inquired about are not listed on the Yamaha web site.
Are you sure you have the correct model numbers?

So, ignoring the ones with no known age ... the CLP950 is the best choice.
It has a much better sound system than the CLP930.
The CVP85 has an inferior sound engine and is way too old.

Why not get a cheap upright instead? The sound is worth it...although not very good compared to good pianos. ;)
