Quick college-audition question.
on: January 11, 2013, 01:20:10 PM
Hi everyone, I need some advice on which order to play my pieces for the college-auditions this spring.
The auditioning exists of two rounds. Where in the first round you play 2 pieces be own choice and if the jury think you are good enough, you advance to the next round, to play the last 2 pieces.

The problem is to make both rounds equally good. What would you advice me to play in each round?
Should I have a slight edge in any round, because of the final takeouts or just to get into the second round? If you get my point..

I know all pieces equally well.

Bach P&F WTC I no 22
Beethoven Sonata no 5
Chopin Ballade no 3
Rachmaninoff Variations on a theme by Corelli (Theme + first 5 variations) Not alowed to play more than 5 variations because of time schedule.

I would play either Bach or Beethoven and Chopin or Rachmaninoff in the first round, to show the different styles. So, for example:

1. Bach/Chopin
2. Beethoven/Rach

Or

1. Beethoven/Chopin
2. Bach/Rach

Something like that. Good luck!

It's a european conservatoire. Not a college per se, in america.
