Rachmaninov prelude op.32 n. 12 G#minor
on: January 25, 2013, 08:38:09 AM
Hello!

I'm going to start this prelude by Rachmaninov, I find that it is beautiful and challenging, concerning interpretation aspects and sound. Technically it's quite hard but I think that it's less about the technical difficulty but the more about learning notes and fix all passages, jumps...
Is it a grade 10?
Beethoven piano Sonata 26 op.81 "Les Adieux"
Bach WTC I n.14; II n.12, n.18
Chopin op.10 n.12
Rachmaninov prelude 12 in G#min op.32
Moscheles op.70 n. 15

I wouldn't play rachmaninoff unless I was a russian. You have to understand what you're playing a great deal, especially with difficult pieces or else it is just a big waste of time and mental effort and then you have a breakdown like David Helfgott.

I really like Rachmaninov music indeed :) at first listening It's not so complicated to understand. I think that to understand modern music you should have mastered what came before, I mean I can understand very well Bach polyphony and the classic period music. My teacher is Russian and she will help me for sure to learn it well ;) David Helfgott breakedown it's beacuse his personal problem and stress not for music. I know about young pianist who played Rachmaninov and they're all ok...personal problem and issues mostly are not related to music.
