What happened here?
on: January 27, 2013, 05:14:16 PM
Has everyone gone mad? People have suddenly started being really rude to each other and many of the topics are full of hatred, accusations or sexual matters that belong to a more adult environment  :o

I am beginning to miss the 88th guy who learned Rach 3 in a week or something...maybe rude at times but at least he was talking about music  ::)

I am not going to take anyone's side in these matters, nor am I knowledgeable/worthy enough of these matters to participate.

But some have to consider this: Is it really worth it? Is it time to just let go?

I'm actually morbidly curious about all this hubbub in the competition thing.  I'm sorry I missed the action!

The "Boyfriend" thread yesterday was really uhm... unusually aggressive... "For 18+ only" would have been an understatement...

Discussion when people disagree and throw tantrums is never pleasant especially between strangers who are here to discuss not only piano but also anything but. Some people's opinions should be kept to themselves but when you in a forum that is here to discuss matters sometimes all people have is their opinions despite the evidence to the contrary or lack of!

Oh and Internet arguments happen everywhere online, if it surprises you then you really are an Internet n00b :)

It is not that, of course arguments are part of it (and as we have seen can be kept up almost eternally). But these are people who are usually behaving more civilized. (Well, maybe not R-4, but he is excused because he is a sweet guy really.) I have nothing against arguments and even a nicely put hidden insult here and there which some of you are really good at. That can be entertaining. I am not entertained by some of the stuff going on right now because this is the one forum where I don't expect to see such nonsense from so many threads at the same time. So I am just surprised...By all means go on, just keep it on a reasonable level.

I apologize for being right all the time and trying my hardest to make sure everyone acknowledges it.

Impossible, there's no such thing as too much Bach.

Maybe the Mayans were right and we just missed it.  :-\

I get it now...the end of the world was not a one time incident but happens gradually...people will first act a bit weird... soon they will be killing kittens and pianists, eating babies and dogs, torturing their neighbours by drilling a few measures of Bach for hours and before we now...the world as we knew it is gone!  :(

I think that it's all in the "anything but piano section"...I remember someone talked about public nudity and I made an inappropriate joke, then the boyfriend cheating thread....oh, that thread really should have been deleted right away, but nooooo, more inappropriate jokes, and then people must have started to get offended, I feel really bad about little tune seeing that thread. Not because of anything personal, but because children and young adults should be protected. Sorry. And titles like Piano porn? Attractive pianists...ugh. while related to piano...not sure if should comment.

These days the internet is the "window on the world" for many people. They may have not been to a public meeting or participated in an association.

Things get really ugly out there. Just recently I saw a fist fight break out in a national parliament.

You shouldn't be shocked when invisible people write nasty things. Of course we would like everyone to observe some sort of decorum.

But don't count on it!
