Highly irritating
on: February 16, 2003, 07:59:56 AM
Yeah...

My Kawai upright is making all these "rattling" noises.... it really bothers me.  Any tips?  It's coming from the little thing where you put your music, but no matter how much I tighten the screws, the noise won't stop!

Argh!

Could it be the keyboard lid or drop which of course rests against the piano when open and is often a cause of unwanted  vibrations
and rattles when you play?  Often the rattle is caused by  a sympathetic vibration where wood is lightly touching wood. Try to track it down.

Cheers!
Robert.

If you've tightened the screws so much and still there is a rattle, take the "thing" off and then see what is still rattling.

I suggest you take the lids and covers off, one piece at a time.   In most of these cases, the noise is from sympathetic vibrations that is caused by loose screws.
give that a try. ;D Shouldn't be a major problem.

Hehe, my Kawaii upright has buzzed since the day it was born. Usually hitting the fallboard takes care of it. Once I would find the buzz, the weather would change and a new one would start.

Glad to see I am not the only one with this issue.
