Day off from practise?
on: February 11, 2013, 05:42:44 AM
Hello,
Is it advisable to have a full day off from practise? How often? If Im practising about 2 hours a day is it OK to practise everyday?

  Thankyou.

Well I will say there's absolutely nothing wrong with a day off. A bit of rest can do you some good too sometimes.

depending on which level you are,the years of training you already had.....even a couple of days and even weeks may be beneficial for your playing oddly enough.I started playing piano some 6 months ago but have been playing guitar/bass/double bass for about 35 years-pop,jazz,salsa,...)and every now and then I'm saturated with playing music even if this is a thing I love most in my life(besides my beloved ones off course....).So I just don't play for a while, days, sometimes weeks, feeling a little guilty about it but nevertheless not touching my instrument because I simply don't feel it.Also I know by experience that the urge to play again always comes back without forcing anything and the first time I pick up my instrument again it feels familiar in a split second and at the same time it feels very fresh because of the fact that I didn't touch it for I don't know how much time.So don't worry about missing one or more practice-sessions,music is no olympic sport that you can do till you're 45 but a mindgame you can do all your lifetime so time is on your side I should say....
