Perhaps having played a single bach transcription may help?

Everything but your sanity. Try a transcription of one of the Organ Preludes and Fugues. There are very good ones by Liszt, Tausig, Busoni, Reger, Siloti and Brassin.

The easiest ones are the Liszt.

That aint a sentence you hear very often.

You know I wasn't seriously suggesting that made the movement impossibly hard anyway..  it can be split into to hand positions that are only an octave in width..

And now for my annoying pedantic action of the day!

Two octaves and a sixth is a 21st, not a 22nd. (EDIT: Actually, it depends on how you look at it. Eh, whatever.)

Actually, looking at it for more than a second it seems 20 is the right number. So we both lose.

God knows how I hit 22...  probably 8+8+6..  should've thought about it before posting I guess.

also i can't think of a good use for knowing intervals beyond 13ths, so can't say I'm phased..  Other to avoiding looking like even more of an amateur than I already do on pianostreet...

Well...here's something to think about...you meet Mr. Wonderful...get slightly intimate...he sees a picture of a grazy looking dude tattoed in your skin (assuming he is not a pianist)...do you think that might put him off a bit?  :P

Why not a picture of a nice piano instead? You could then carry one with you always  :)

Nah, these are the ones. Ravel is a top fave too, and rach, but they dont represent my favorite century or childhood memories...and so on.

Although rach is russian,...beethoven and chopin will suffice.

rant thread. ok. I've been wanting to do one for a while. here we go.

why is sword spelled like sword? like, where does the W come into play? like really, W likes to get in there on random words. like who, where's the W in that? it sounds like hoo. not Whoo. english just doesn't make sense some(all)times. then to make it even more confusing they add the ' just to make it more confusing! what's the point of adding a ' just to cut off a space and a letter? pointless I say! but everyone does it! it's proper grammar apparently! and now I have to go, cause my record needs to be flipped.

GO BEATLES!

Because that's how some words are in English.  Word evolution, random grabbing from other languages.  That type of thing.

Nice!

Well i could rant about being turned down by the music school of my choice in the most cold, heartless manner....but I will probably just start crying again. Its late here and cant play piano too loud...so it would be pretty pointless to get upset right now. I dont know what to do with myself except continue getting rediculously good and taking life as it comes. Im in hock up to my ears right now with a new piano and all...school sucks! I wouldnt feel so crappy if it wasnt for school. Spring break is in a week. I have plans to stay at home. I really hate a certain professor right now, for not caring. I might have to move in 6 months! That would really suck for a lot of people, apparently. Wtffff somebody please find me a competition or a festival that is coming up! Please!

Women who park in the middle of the road to drop their fat kids off to school should be machine gunned.
Aren't at least some of them more likely to be run into from behind by someone in another car?

Why only women?

Why only obese children?

Why a machine gun rather than any other kind of weapon?

Who should do the machine gunning and at whose expense should it and the inevitable subsequent police, legal and judicial proceesings be?

Best,
