The Blah Days

Are there some days where your musical sense and mind just isn't on for that day?

I know those days for drawing when I just don't have that "notch" to draw. And some days its the same for piano and its a blah day.

yeah, those days  happen. I just give myself a little goal to accomplish for the day and when I am done I usually quit. If i dont set a goal and just aimlessly play all day and nothing gets accomplished.

I refuse to play at all on those days.  If you ever associate 'boring' with 'piano' you're in big trouble.  Always keep a positive mind at the piano, and you'll be naturally motivated forever.  :)

if I don't play on those days then laziness enters in and I am in serious trouble.

Yeah, I've experienced days like that too
Usually such a blah, apathetic, boring days are due to lack of sleep or a bad, heavy meal the previous day
So, the only solution is to eat better (avoid junk and fried foods and eat more phytochemicals, antoxidants and micronutrients rich veggies and fruits)  and sleep more
If you take a nap and after that you walk for a mile having a fruit smoothie afterward you will feel immediately better and more willing to go through your day
I would completely avoid playing, talking or even thinking about piano until you don't feel any better and more motivated otherwise you might end up creating a link between the apathetic feeling and the pieces you're working on

Yeah... Everyone gets the blah days...

Just relax and don't stress over it. These tend to happen if you're aiming for a deadline. It puts more pressure on you and you tend to overpractice. Which results in weariness. Just skip a day if you have to. You can't tell me none of the greats never missed a day of practice... Or did they ? ? ?  ???

Do any of you fart while sitting on the piano bench (who brought in that extra tuba!)

I believe that was Liszt, but I could be mistaken...

? ? ? ? ? ???

Just like any other place I guess...

...maybe that's why the wood on the bench is starting to wear down in the middle!

yeah i first heard that in terms of dance. personally when i miss a week of practice i end up sounding better in my lesson than i do if i practice everyday...until i just don't practice for a while and start forgetting what i'm doing.

everyone has blah days. it's annoying if i'm in a blah day for painting and have a 3hr painting class that day. so i just stand around and paint the background or something and attempt to not screw ut up completely
