Do you love your piano teacher and why?
on: April 09, 2013, 09:47:19 PM
I went through a very difficult initial period with my piano teacher who is focused on correcting my myriad of bad habits adopted (and almost cultivated to perfection as a self-taught adult.)

Yet, after 10 lessons, I asked for her again and I am now appreciating her goal for me:  To teach me to be a professional and to approach music as a professional.

It certainly isn't the pedal to floor, bang out style I had developed, but I think now I am playing music...and not just emoting with the keyboard as my instrument.

You've found yourself a wonderful teacher, stick it out ! You don't come by them every day and later you will so so much appreciate what she put you through. If you feel you are playing music now and weren't before you met this person, there is nothing but good ahead of you regarding music.
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.
