Shostakovich in the style of Strauss

I can see how Shostakovich might have been influenced by Strauss. What do you think after listening to this recording?

You tell us!!! How much Shostakovich do you know other than one or two excerpts on you tube???

You seem to be very good at asking very open ended questions but not contributing very much, if anything at all, to the wider discussion yourself! You never even seem to respond to anyone else's posts which have arisen from your tantalizing questions!!!

I had an idea.  Perhaps beethovenopus2... Is a creation of the forum moderator to get us away from the polemical discussions with mayla.  Wait!  Maybe it IS mayla?  No, take that back.  I saw he joined almost a year ago.  Sorry, mayla.  :)
