I demand satisfaction!
on: April 12, 2013, 05:28:30 AM
I challengze you to a dualz  8)!

OK - by Tuesday, April 23rd (boom), slap down the Chopin Ballade no. 1 in g minor.  It must be memorized.

Here are the rules:

1.  I will judge
2.  Submit all videos/audios to me through pm, don't just post them willy nilly all over the place.
3.  If I try to pass off one of your recordings as my own, you have to just live with it.

Aj, keypeg, j_menz, birba, chopin2015, costicina? Stubworne Studente?  Anybody?

Come to think of it, we should get started on the Chopets again, too.  Slap... I say, slap it down!  :o

 It must be memorized.

Rules me out. I don't memorise anything. Ballade No 1 in a fortnight seems an unlikely place to acquire the skill.

1.  I will judge

But you have no judgment.

3.  If I try to pass off one of your recordings as my own, you have to just live with it.

Nope, I'd sue your a** off. Some habits are hard to break.

 Anybody?

Not me.

I'll do it! My interpretation will be a bit more experimental, I'll play it one note at the time...probably half tempo too, since I believe in the idea of all Chopin's metronome markings being wrongly understood.

I recorded a bit today but had to go to school. I have all day tomorrow to record and think I can get a good first take...lol

Well, crap. Did anyone else record it yet? There would have been no way I could have played it on Tuesday. I was working toward tomorrow! This isn't fair!!! :( I will post it in the Audition room, then. Sorry, m1469!

Well, I'm not going to get it up tomorrow, that's for sure.  I was able to rough the whole thing out, but it's rough!  I'll need another couple of weeks to come close to a first draft recording.  But, even though I was serious before, I didn't necessarily think everybody was serious about doing it.  So, yes?  If truly, then let's set a date and really go for it!

ok! mine's rough sometimes, too. Especially since I am playing on a piano from 1938(it sounds so right, though!).

What's the date? You wanna see if Outin still wants to do a recording and then set the date? I never joke about Chopin, girl! ;)

oh...I can't sense when someone is serious or joking on the internet because I am usually very irrational. Well, I am going to record tomorrow and see if I can come up with something worth sharing!

Huh? Well Idk about all that. I plan on posting a complete video this week, but here's today's progress/take. I had a good take before this one but the video got deleted. Sorry about the end and the coda, I do better the first couple of takes, when my nerves aren't on the edge!

Will post link in a second.

heeeyyyyy girl, you gettin' all up in my business!  I'm the lady here, I call the shots, got it?!

I decree that in one month, we each livestream Ballade no. 1 - that's it.  That's what I said, werd.  Now deal, hunny.

Until then, there will be more rules arising (for example, there will need to be undeniable proof of identity before then).  Don't like it, eh?  That's the internets.

Is it getting too complicated?  :'( :-

Feel free not to!  It is unfortunate that the forum can't participate in activities like this.  Not just because of the "competition" but also because of past hoaxes which have nothing to do with me.   If you can't see the value in each participant validating their musical contribution on the Internet, then that's not my problem.  And, birba, if you have something of actual musical value that you'd like to contribute, feel free!

I don't see how streaming is that much more superior to a video clip.  Yes, it's immediate and you can't do it over,  but you also have to consider the time changes.  I'm not that sure how it works, but wouldn't i have to get up in the dead of night to hear someone playing in australia?

I don't have any means for live streaming. So I finished in a timely manner and posted a video recording with low audio quality(not to mention, the piano). Sorry! Moving on, everynody! Nothing to see here.

Watch out welwolves is coming,,,,,

Malya, I liked your Chopin  idea, but most of us are ameteur players, we have limited piano times. Unless you are targeting only full time musicians..... ;D

Ballard is nice but very long. If not, shorter pieces like "chopin etude or prelude;D would be more preferable....that people have more time to prepare and maintaine.

Well, at the time, I would prefer to be around real people, even if they are truly capable of smashing me into the ground musically and technically (especially in a way that I can admire), who give me something to help me structure my thoughts and aims, than a bunch of foggy, substanceless fluff.

And, I don't just mean child prodigies or "average," high level graduate students from Universities or Conservatories.  I mean, life-longers.  People with grit, yet who still have a joy.  People with knowledge and a true desire to share with the right people/person, in a way that can change something on a deep level for somebody like me.  Somebody(s) with whom I can musically identify, and who can musically identify with me.

I just got goosebumps too!
I feel bad that I want to learn it. My mom listened and cried to this a lot when my grandpa was sick with lung cancer and he was far away in Russia. This piece brings on feelings of anxiety and panic. It is a dark place to be every day.

Music itself is salvation! If I am going to be stressed, by all means! Music helps work things out. I also think of unrequited love in the really upbeat part that starts with a trill! I gotta go eat then practice now!
