Nils deleted it.

I want my ideas back from that thread.  I was collecting them there.

Did anyone happen to make a copy of it?  I copied up to post 90 on it before but that was probably less than half of it.

I just want my ideas, not all the drama garbage.

Have you tried a search engine cache?

Maybe if you PM Nils, he may be willing to oblige.

I pm'd Nils twice.  I don't think he's checked.

I think Nils means ... well I thought mister.  I guess not.
https://www.ourbabynamer.com/meaning-of-Nils.html

I wouldn't mind having the power to delete message on these threads.  I could have taken care of the drama and still had my thread going.

Nothing on Google.  Maybe it's out there somewhere else... I wish had backed the thing up more.

Thanks.  Between Yahoo and Google caches I've got most of it I think.  I'm still missing some posts though.  Mine from yesterday evening that I wanted.  And I'm not sure what posts are missing.

I've got...
1-90 from myself.
1-42 from Yahoo.
50-80 from Google.
100-101 from Google.

So I'm missing 90-100 and a lot on page 3.  Page 3 had my breakdown of elements of music on it.  That would be useful.  Although it's just the basics.....

I wonder if there's a way to sync up and backup local copies of thread like this.

You could try an offline web browser.  You would have to get the content while it is still available though.  Probably won't work with the current situation.

Alternatively, if you find you've made a post you would like to keep, save them as word documents.  It would probably be easier to file your text that way.

There is also a great plugin called Lazarus Form Recovery.  However it is generally intended for short term data recovery.  It saves all text entered into online forms onto your local computer.  The database is encrypted so your personal info is safe from snoopers.  It's great for when you accidentally click the back button, loose power, computer crashes, etc. after you've spent all that time writing your post.

Have you tried the Bing search engine for its cache?

Ah, good.  Bing.  (eye roll)  Nope.  Posts 1-42 there.  Thanks though.

How do you detect a copied/edited performance   is the title.

Hmm.  To prevent this again, there would have to be something like the site but delayed a bit.  Like a few different versions... a base, then 48 hours ago, 24 hours, 12,6, 4, 2, 1 hours ago.  It's probably not impossible.  I just don't know how to do that.

archive.org does something similar to that.  However, not hourly more like weekly or monthly.

That's not very nice of "nils".  I don't see why he doesn't send you a pm with your deleted comments.  There was never anything offensive about them.

Don't be envious. We each learn as much as we need to make the system work for us. Unless you're planning to get a job in the industry all that knowledge will go to waste.

What baffles me is the logic of the sysop behind choosing which threads to lock and/or delete. I know very little about the sysop (nils).  It seems that his actions always come late. On the two threads he locked the discussions had turned a corner and we were ready to move on. On the deleted thread the issues of someone stealing had been resolved and we were moving on.

Nils pm'd me my posts.  I've got them.

I'm still interested in how to get a shadow version of a website, but that sounds like a lot of work.

Hmm... The last part I remember was when someone posted Joan Sutherland and I said she looks like a man.  Nils didn't include that stuff.  He gave me my last x-number of posts from when I first started that thread.

If there was a shadow copy website, it would need to keep all the formatting. It's hard to glance through text only.

I would think that may exist for some websites, not necessarily this one..

I think when a moderator deletes posts they must get marked invisible, though if nils was able to find yours..  so everything must still be on this site, certainly not accessible without the right administration rights though, or access to the back end. So, nils only..

You could do that with an offline browser (like mentioned above).  However, within a site as large as this one you would be doing a lot of downloading.

Best bet is to just save any text you composed that is deemed important.

Swedes are in general quite tolerant for different ideas and not very concervative, so I doubt that. I would assume he is quite busy and reacts when enough complaints crop up without reading the text much...

Or more than likely his vision of the board is different.

One of the single biggest problems I encountered while working in the frozen North was misunderstandings. While we all spoke excellent English we had different cultural concepts about what those words meant when put into action.

LOL don't call sutherland a man. Nils hates that and will delete your thread.
Can I have the text?

Maybe nils has a filter for monitoring content? Like when we try to write curse words and they come out strange. Like the CIA!

Nils will respond to the masses.  Whatever gives him enough trouble.

Which means... If you want to get a thread deleted, create drama, and have users complain to Nils.  Nils deletes the threads/bans any users, problem solved.
