Broken strings
on: April 24, 2013, 12:59:00 AM
What are some videos of people breaking piano strings?

I think they're really funny and cool.

I hope one day, I will be conducting and performing Scriabins Mysterium on the top of Mt. Everest, and break a piano string which then will trigger 10.0 magnitude earthquakes all around the world!  So people will know I mean business...  Or if Valentina Lisitsa did it.  Either way, it would be freaking awesome!!! >:( 8)

I've had a few break in my time. Methinks you are overestimating the effect!

That's because you're not playing the Mysterium on top of Mt. Everest.

You can't half ass it, you gotta go all the way! >:(

Apparently "all the way" is past the point where the laws of physics cease to operate. Probably further than the top of Everest is required for that. Mysterium notwithstanding.

I did attend a concert where the cellist broke a string during the Shostakovich.  He had to start the movement again, after a LOT of running around to get a replacement.

Didn't even hear it go "ping", though I understand they can take an eye out.
