Picking a piece by Mozart
on: May 17, 2013, 02:05:03 AM
Hey all,
I'm looking for suggestions of which piece I should work on next. My teacher was pointing me to some of Mozart's sonatas because he wants a piece that will give me a chance to work on my technique. I love Mozart, but there's so much out there that I was looking for help narrowing down the field.
To give a sense of my skill, here are some pieces that I've worked on:
Mendelssohn Songs w/o Words: Op 19 no 1, Op 30 no 6
Rach: Op 3 no 2
Mozart: Fantasy in D minor
Chopin: Op 72 no 1, Nocturne no 20 (C# minor)
Thanks for the help!

Most people start with the C major one (K545), but it seems easier for your level
I jumped directly to K331, it was the first piece I've ever played by Mozart and I found it manageable. I also like K332, although I can't comment on the difficulty of that one since I haven't played it yet. The ones that are in C minor and A minor considered Mozart's darker pieces, you can also check them out. Unfortunately they are beyond my level
I'm not an expert but hope this helps.
