You're point being what? All our great technology is made in China.

iPhones
Circuit boards
Computer peripherals
Cheap suits...

Whoooops... (note to self, stop mentioning child labour).

Wishful thinking, China's technology can be quite laughable... or spying sneakiness.

Last time I listened to someone who said "Come on, do try it", I woke up in a ditch wearing nothing more than a Hercules type toga, my wallet was gone, and I had a couple of 20 dollar bills stuffed inside the lining of the toga.

Worst AA meeting I ever went to. Never again...

Well... at least you only had something stuffed into your toga and not elsewhere, that's probably quite a relief.

Petitio principii?  No, I don't see buggering the question much in that interchange.

I think you meant something more like "it also raised the question," or some such twaddle.

These youts.

Both sayings seem like they mean the same thing. To beg the question, or having the question raised... but since I was the first to question where the toga came from, I myself seemed determined to know - I needed to know, begging to know.

To have the question raised implies someone else asked the question...

I've stated on multiple occasions - I only drink Whiskey... and Scotch Whiskey at that.

You can drink your bleach... or Bourbon as it's otherwise known as.

A child's tipple, with treacly nose and sycophant palate.

I had a twelve year old Scotch many times.

Her mother disapproved.

It was Laphroaig, though, so anything over ten is pointless.

Yeah, but we're talking Islay smoke monsters here.

I will admit that Laphroaig makes a blended....it's complete garbage.  But I'd challenge anybody to differentiate between a Laphroaig 10 or a 12 or 15.

Then you don't know many people. There are clear distinctive differences in taste, and the way you feel when you swallow them as well.

Difference between a Green Label Johnnie Walker and Blue Label is magnificently different; I've had Laghroaig many times over my lifetime.

Also... what the hell was that video. Seemed like some AI piece of sh*t.

You mean, hexadecimal? Not that hard. 100000 Decimal easily equals 186A0 in Hexadecimal.

I remember having to multiply numbers in different bases - bloody difficult to wrap ones head around at the time, but eventually you get used to it.

I don't know.

Spend enough time around the bleeding poms and one gets accustomed to working in bases twelve and sixteen.

Matter of habit, really.

Yeah, it's a thing.

Lifting weights twelve ounces at a time.

One unit of ethanol at five percent ABV is twelve ounces of beer.

You may consider yourself a hard man, but that is a definitional constant.

Not any more odd than using a vigesimal system.  Hex is nice because of factoring down to powers of two, but one gets used to it.

When one is about the poms and their imperial systems of weights and measures.

1) Most of the British have started using grams, metres and litres more and more.

2) I thought the only people who count in 20's were the Dungeons and Dragons nerds who play everyday...

Ad (1)....yeah I know.  It's still the British Imperial system.  Can't exactly change history.

Ad (2)....well, I'll just have to take your word for that.  I shoot craps and that's as far as I go with dice.

Ad your "point" about vigesimal number systems....rather common.  Won't get very far speaking French without it, for example.  Nor reading much in English, either.  "Three score and ten....these are the time of our life." or whatever.
