Honestly Ive been on PS for like 20 years and its moderation is excellent. It's much better than the "nanny" boards full of moderators who lock threads left right and centre and censor. Freedom of speech is important for variety, I would have left PS long ago if they moderated like PW.

No it isn't. I went up a few recent posts here and reported several to the moderators. Personal attacks, non-family friendly, changing words to avoid the censor, sexual connotations.

look at the forum rules.

I wouldn't bother if there weren't some posts which are interesting or useful, or if some pianists were not in need of help or advice.

In your world everyone must treat conversations like a dinner party conversation with politeness and never disagreeing? Come on. I'm on the receiving end of insults, being called a liar etc etc a lot on here over the years, it is just the nature of what happens when you interact with people over and over again, it's quite a natural reaction on the internet. I agree swearing shouldn't be allowed, but if they censor themselves why not. Arguments and debates are a natural part of any online interaction, just show me one place which doesn't have it.

Or put another way, if Nils had a problem with this one thread, he'd have shut it down or done a Stalinesque purge.

Even accomplished, erudite musicians and composers for keyboard instruments occasionally enjoy a little down time from what can be the intense concentration it requires to perform and teach music.

I conclude there is no problem.  Or PEBCAK.

Anyway, it's all p_p's fault.  I blame him.

your arguments violate most of the principles of thouless 'straight and crooked thinking'.

the posts are not family-oriented, the post use adjusted words to avoid censors, the posts involve sexual innuendo, the posts involve personal attacks, shall I go on?

I have no problem with adult arguments which show respect, but when the majority of posts are childish playground insults, it rather destroys the purpose of the board. Doesn't want to make adults want to be any part of it.

In short, stop complaining, behave yourselves.

You can blame me all you want, doesn't make it true though. I didn't start the thread...

What playground insults are there, you should post examples. Lots of demands from someone who has been here very a relatively short time. Who's complaining the most here? Pot calling kettle black by the looks of it.. Ironically you're complaining on this thread saying no adult wants to be a part of it, yet here you are multi posting on it.  ::)

It's a good way to blow off some steam... we've all had a laugh at various moments of this thread.

It's like an institution now... you can't get rid of it.

I will continue to report to moderator where a post is not family friendly, alters words to avoid censors, or involves personal attacks.

The fact that a few individuals want to blow off steam does not mean that it is good for the overall community, particularly when it dominates other threads. It is the balance I and others question.

I do wonder who you mean by 'we'.

I'm going to say this nicely... you've been on here for barely 2 years, and given your post count, you haven't really helped out a lot in the community. The repeated members of this forum have helped many people out over 10-15 years so I don't think you have the right to try and call us out.

It is one single thread in which we do all our letting-of-steam, and as J_Tour said, Nils would have shut this down years ago if he thought it sullied the reputation of this forum.

He hasn't...

EDIT: Okay - maybe it would be good if the forum could auto-size larger images to fit on screen???

i think your powers of causal inference need refining.

I am simply asking that the rules of the forum are adhered to.

You have failed one of the thouless 'straight and crooked thinking' list - claims to authority. Whether or not you have been helping for the last 10-15 years has very little to do with the forum rules and how piano street may be regarded by a casual observer.

Also i detect a touch of bullying.

To be honest, I don;t want to be part of a forum which allows these antics, so am unsubscribing - if i could find how to remove myself!

That is a picture of a partially nude man.

This is sexual harassment, and I don't have to take it.

It's also bullying, which is the worst thing that anyone can ever do to anyone, ever, at any time.

I didn't start the thread...

But did you start the fire?  All signs point to "Yes."

as J_Tour said, Nils would have shut this down years ago if he thought it sullied the reputation of this forum.

Nota bene....the name is tour.  j_tour.  You numpty!   ;D

EDIT: Okay - maybe it would be good if the forum could auto-size larger images to fit on screen???

No it would not.  It might upset some "people."

Besides which, all images posted in this thread are pornographic and amount to hate speech, anyway, so we don't need to see the full images.

When in doubt, defer to the tin star who's bucking for one of those coveted junior moderator positions.

Funny... when I looked in my Magic 8-ball and asked if I was the one who stoked the fire, it said No.

I also realised it's a piece of plastic crap filled with ink and has no ability to actually predict the future, or tell you the truth about a particular subject, so if you're basing your life on what a kids toy predicts... lord help you.

But isn't that what junior-modding trolls use to predict their successes and failures?

It clearly works.

Captain Howdy says hello, by the way.

I don't know - I don't own one.

And who the bloody hell is Captain Howdy??? Is that your imaginary friend???
