Step 1)  Go get a shoe.

Step 2) Play something loud and atonal. Stockhausen if you have any.

Step 3) When insect exits and runs onto the floor/your arm/your leg  whack it hard with the shoe from step 1.


EDIT:

If it's as big as this, replace the shoe in step 1 with a baseball bat (or given you're in the US, the biggest gun in your kitchen drawer)

OMG!    . And i thought those flying cockroaches in tokyo during the summer were bad.  The second picture is actually sort of cute.  I could never kill it.
Last year i had a mouse in my piano.  A nightmare.

  That is NOT what I want to see first thing in the morning over my coffee....although that's better than seeing it IN my coffee. 

Anyway,  if the OP's bug is bug-sized rather than dog-sized,  a vaccuum cleaner with the narrowest nozzle should get it out.  Good Luck, s.

No I hadn't - but you're right. Gotta love that attention to detail.

Now I'm going to have to check all the other cartoon versions of this to see if they're as picky.

I live in Auckland and I find it hard to imagine anyone being frightened of a weta; matter of fact there was one in the garden the other day. Same with Avondale spiders. Hundreds of them were exported from the Auckland suburb of Avondale for the film Arachnophobia. The sight of people screaming at these delightful, completely harmless creatures rendered the movie too silly for words.

Another Australian export you kiwis have appropriated as your own.  Here (where they are native) we call them Huntsman Spiders.  I was awoken one morning by one perched on my shoulder - I know they're harmless, but it still gave me a start.

They came over with the timber used to build the Avondale racecourse grandstand in the forties, I think. The mystery is that in seventy years they have never strayed beyond the suburb of Avondale. I used to keep a couple in a fishbowl when I was younger. They can survive on moist cotton wool for months. I felt sorry for them and let them out. The next day I saw my neighbour swearing and brandishing an axe in his back garden. He said he caught sight of a terrible spider. I didn't enlighten him.
