Debussy Image I
on: May 28, 2013, 03:47:00 AM
For years I've wanted to learn and perform "Images I: Reflets dans l'eau, Homage a Rameau, and Mouvement." I sight-read through it recently, thinking, "Wow, I know this pretty well. Must have worked on it some before."
Imagine my surprise when, on reviewing an old concert VHS tape from 1981 (the one with the Liszt sonata some of you have commented on), I found myself performing the suite (and no question it is me doing the playing) sans score.
I thought for sure I had every detail of that concert stuck in my memory, cast as if in bronze--yet there was this younger me playing a piece I can't for the life of me recall learning, memorizing--any of it.
Bizarre. Anyhow, here is my ghost playing Images I.
