What happened to TV?
on: May 29, 2013, 01:22:27 AM
So I found some videos on YouTube about some TV show from the 50s named "What's my line?". Imagine my surprise when I find this...

...and the list goes on. Robert Mitchum, Duke Ellington, Frank Lloyd Wright, Jacques Cousteau, Hugh Hefner, Frank Sinatra, Muhammad Ali, Joe DiMaggio, Van Cliburn...

Legends from all over the world and of every type appear on the same show. Why, why can't we have some of this nowadays?  :'(

Because the potential audience for such a show is too busy looking at vids on YouTube to tune in.  ::)

TV shows were something more special when there weren't thousands of them. Those days everyone watched the same show and talked about it. It was quite good PR to appear on one if you were in the entertainment business.

Besides, who needs legends (Hugh Hefner? :) ) when you can have pop or film stars or whatever celebrities?  :P

Just the possible minimum. You could be much older than that, though probably younger than what would get you on this list.
