Help with Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca
on: May 29, 2013, 04:25:28 PM
I have an audition for a school in two days and I'm going to play Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca.

I would like to ask for some advice on my playing. I know I have trouble with the part from measure 36 and the last part, especially the part from measure 99 to 105, so it would great if anybody has any tips on how to play it.
There is a lot of noise in the recording but please ignore that.

This really isn't ready to audition with, and I don't see that two days is nearly enough time to iron it out.

That said, what's the school? That may make a difference as to what they are expecting.

If you have something else, use it. If not, then between now and then spend (quite) some time going through it slowly - very slowly - and get the notes right.  Also, do some work on the coda as it's just not working.

In future, ask for feedback much earlier so that you have time to actually take on board suggestions that may be made.

There is, as it happens, despite its many faults, quite a lot to be liked about your performance. It shows potential, and the flaws could be ironed out over a few weeks to make a really nice performance indeed.

This is the first piece on which I worked with my very demanding eacher, and the key for me was building it measure by measure.

This may not be "the right way" to do this, but what I did was to play each measure as slowly as possible until I could play it 3x perfectly. Then, take the next measure, do the same.  Then, the next two, also as slowly as possible.  Only after I had 4 measure perfect 3x per measure would I play all 4 measures together as slowly as possible 3x till it was perfect (if I flubbed, then I'd repeat the process.)

Again, I'm not a teacher, but just someone who also worked on this piece.

The other tip my teacher gave me:  Play this as much on the tips of your fingers as possible. Not perfectly, but as much as possible, since there is so much fine articulation.

GL!

Thanks for the advice j_menz and Bernadette.

The name of the school is Kongsbakken. It's a Videregĺende school which is akin to high school.
