Chopin Op53 Polonaise fingering
on: June 18, 2013, 04:04:26 PM
Just a quick question about different fingering options for the chromatic 4ths in the opening of the polonaise.  there are 4 sets of them, the first 2 and the last are no problem, but the 3rd one is giving me difficulty.  Any suggestions?

Well, what do you think of the various fingering suggestions from the different editions available on the ISMLP site?
Beethoven - Sonata in C sharp minor, Op 27 No 12
Chopin - Fantasie Impromptu, Nocturn in C sharp minor, Op post
Brahms - Op 118, Nos 2 & 3

I divide the third run in two hands:

r.h.  1 2 3 4 5 4 5
                1 2 1 2

l.h.   2 1 1
        4 3 2 4 3 2 1

I've used 13, 24, 15, 24, 15, 24, 15. The parallel fourths are nothing compared to that annoying coda though...

I don't think the Coda is that difficult.
