Chopin's Nocturne in E flat Major
on: June 19, 2013, 04:33:46 PM
Hello all I have one simple question. Should I learn this piece hands alone first or gain a simple knowledge of both hands then put them together. And one other thing what do you like/dislike about this piece.

Thanks

everyone has their own learning style.. I usually work my hands independently, then put them together.  There's no standard..

its a nice nocturne, I like the waltz rhythm, its just a little overplayed.
\\\\\\\"I like these calm little moments before the storm. It reminds me of Beethoven\\\\\\\"

When I was learning this piece I thought that it will be faster to learn both hands together. But it wasn't the right way how to succeed. I wasn't able to play right notes and it took me really long time to learn it. So I started practising the left hand separately till I wasn't sure I can really play it. After I mastered the left hand I started both hands together-I knew the left hand and the part of right hand I was reading from sheets. Some "harder" places in right hand I was practising separately and than together. But I think that playing whole right hand separately is wasting of time. But if you feel like you need it, don't be lazy and practice whole think separately.
Wish a luck!
Scarlatti - sonata K32, K99, K213, K141
Schubert - Sonata in A minor, D.784, no. 14
Chopin - Etude 10/1, 10/9, 25/12
Liszt - Un Sospiro
