Please have mercy on me, this is a practicing version of a newly learned piece. In addition, it is not very easy. Comments? :)

I remember a comment Richter made about Prokofiev's disdain for Rachmaninov, that it was precisely because of his inability to escape the former's influence. "Listen to the Etudes-Tableaux!" If that be so this is the first of the etudes in the illustration. Also on a side note, I think Rachmaninov's recording of this is my favorite of any of his recordings of his solo piano music - and you can tell it was nothing for his hands to roar through this piece.

I think this is pretty good now. There's a tension to this recording common to this stage of experience with the piece. Time will make it great...when you too no longer have to think about it.
Don't let anyone know where you tie your goat.

Thanks for the comment. The tension will be less of an issue once I've performed it a few times and had it in my fingers for more than...what, 10-12 days or so. Funny you mention Rach's recording - I love it as well, and there are some outstanding things there in terms of control, sound production and technique, but strangely, I didn't find this recording until quite recently. Had no idea he recorded this one. Very nice find!
