Yamaha P-155 problem (please help!)
on: July 09, 2013, 08:11:52 PM
I've had a Yamaha P-155 for a year now, and it was working fine until today. Today I noticed that for all the voices including the piano voice, everything sounds thin and bright and has too much treble. Even if I adjust the brilliance to "mellow," it still sounds brighter than it should. I know it's not a problem with the speakers because when I play my previous recordings or one of the preset recordings, I can hear the original pleasant piano sound. However, when those recordings are playing, if I press any key, the sound will be different and thinner. I adjusted a ton of settings, and when that didn't work, I reset the factory settings by pressing "on" while holding down C7.
That didn't solve the problem. I'm assuming it's either a software problem or something else internal. Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions to fix my digital piano?

It could be one of several reasons, mostly circuit related. First make sure you haven't slipped it into Midi mode. You will get low to no sound if it's in Midi. Beyond that you are into a repair, either a circuit board or power pod has let go on you in most likelihood. I doubt it's a power amplifier since you get full sound from memory.
You might look for some you tube video on similar problems and repairs. I think I'd find a certified repair place though personally.

Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.
