Yes, it's a lot more difficult. I performed the 2nd but never quite managed to finish the 1st, when I tried it.

There's a reason no one plays the 1st, and it's not because it isn't a great piece.

And not because it's difficult.

There are people who play pieces just because they're difficult.
Live large, die large.  Leave a giant coffin.
