CLASSICAL PIANIST WITH ROCK N ROLL FINGERS!
on: July 22, 2013, 03:50:39 PM
Hello everyone! I'd like to talk a bit about Nicky Hopkins-the ultimate session musician in the history of Rock. He was the quintessential piano man throughout the 60's, 70's and much of the 90's as well!
Nicky has recorded with names as: The Beatles(together and apart), Rolling Stones, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, The Kinks, Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Cocker, Fats Domino....to name a few!
This guy has played on almost every classic you might have heard of!
His style is Classical based, with a touch of Blues and Roll'(whenever needed).
This is Nicky Hopkins' s Magnum Opus:
Take 5 minutes out and give it a good listen! you won't be disappointed.
Thanks!
Happy Music!

What about Keith Emerson, a progressive rocker from 1970-80's, who was renowned for his keyboard/piano playing? Here is a concerto composed and performed by him:
Enjoy!

Keith was a brilliantly talented guy! There's no second thought about that. But somehow, he lacked the certain 'moving' quality in his playing, IMO. I mean, he could murder anything with keys on it, quite literally! but that doesn't touches your soul often!
Cheers!
