Pianists, do you think you would have learned to play an instrument had the piano never been invented?

As a multi-instrumentalist I think I can confidently say "definitely".

I'll also assume for my own sanity in having pondered this for a moment that keyboard instruments like the harpsichord and organ do exist in this weird alternate reality.

Yes. Pipe organs are really nice, but very expensive.  Even electronic organs with 25 pedals were beyond my means until 2010.  Now you have to pay a recycling fee at the dump to get rid of them.

Yes, of course...playing something was considered "normal" in my family, even though there are no professional musicians among my relatives.
