Schumann, Symphonic Etudes Op.13 - Life recording from 1999.

I don't have time now to listen to all of it (I'll do that later), but from the first part I heard, I say wholeheartedly: You are the best! Congratulations on such an accomplishment! You have even inspired me for heroic deeds. I'll see tonight if I can get some of the notes right myself. :)

Hi Marik,

Bravo! For a "life recording" or any recording for that matter, I believe this is an excellent rendition.  Here in the U.S. the late Julius Katchen was esteemed for his playing of this piece in particular.  (He had studied with his grand-parents, the Svet's, who had been professors at the Moscow and Warsaw Conseravatories.)  I have to say, I believe that your rendition is at the least up to that standard.  You marvelously create each mood out of the contrasting figuration found in each of the "variation-etudes". You pay much attention too to dynamics and nuances.  And you bring a wonderful sweep to the music keeping it cohesive and expressive at all times. This is despite Brahms' tendency to think orchestrally in this solo piano work (and others) which can make articulation more difficult at times than it should be. It's a wonderful achievement. Thanks for sharing your recording.
