Practicing Leaps in Gershwin
on: August 20, 2013, 01:39:03 PM
I'm having trouble with the leaps at these two spots.
Advice for practice?
I'm aiming for 100% accuracy and consistency.

I find with any leap and you need an octave stretch on the landing of that leap I lead with one finger even though they get planted together. It's an acquired skill, when the one finger touches the key, the other follows instinctively. It's a micro response FWIW. If I dig back far enough in my memory banks I'm pretty sure my teacher directed me to this method of execution.

Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.
