Chopin's Op. 10 No. 12 fingering
on: August 26, 2013, 04:23:48 PM
Hello!

I have a little problem with fingering in Chopin's Revolutionary.
30th measure, last two notes in the left hand, E sharp and F sharp. What's the best fingering for these two? I really cannot decide, actually, nothing seems comfortable to me.
Thanks in advance.

You have just 10 combinations of two different fingers in your left hand to play any two given notes. Ok, if you switch the order, 20. Most of them will be nonsense. If none feels comfortable, just choose the least awkward for you.

I personally do 5-1.

I also do 5-1.

I let go of the 5 as soon as I hit the note and it's basically already over the lower F#.  If you practice slowly, you need to emulate this quick movement or you're going to have trouble when you play in tempo.

Thanks, just what I was looking for.
I already played with 5-1, but I wasn't sure, that it fits well while playing at the given tempo.

Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
