Increase time for practice
on: August 30, 2013, 02:09:18 PM
I have 2 teachers whom I can only see once a week, one give me a 1 hour of class and the other 2 hours. I am also assisting to a workshop related to musical appreciation and another related to solfege, but those ones are also one per week and the last 1 hour and a half.

I want to start to learn by my own properly. I want to put myself into a regime of 2 hour practice per day.

The time I use per day has been between 15 minutes and 1 hour, but it has been difficult because of my work.

I want to make the 2 hour a regular basis, but at the same time I don't want it to become both dull, tedious or pointless if instead of improving I go backwards.

What could you recommend me?

"What could you recommend me?"

The book How to Write a Lot, by Paul Silvia.

Sure, it's about writing rather than piano practice. But the book is basically about time management. The secret to writing a lot is to schedule writing time into your daily routine, to use it for writing, and to defend it from interlopers who want to schedule things like meetings or conference calls during your writing time. He makes the important point that you don't "find" time to do something-- you have to make it, which can mean rescheduling other things.

As for dull, tedious, or pointless, I don't know what to say.
