Pieces you're in love with
on: August 31, 2013, 03:01:16 AM
So what pieces are you guys currently in love with? I currently have several. Chopin Ballade no 3, 3rd movement of Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata, Beethoven PC no 3, Shostakovich Prelude and Fugue in A minor, Prokofiev's Toccata, Prokofiev Scherzo op 12 no 10, and Debussy Valse Romantique. So those are my favorites as of right now, it changes a lot...

Scriabin's 2nd Sonata. The first movement particularly (and even more specifically, the ending of the Exposition and the last minute of the piece). It just bubbles up out of no where and has a complete explosion of sound. f*ck I love that piece.

Whenever I Lizst's Hungarian Rhapsody (No2?) and Ravel's Bolero, I feel like a nice sensation in my mind, like getting a brain massage. I like the rhythm.

Prokofjev - "Toccata"
Kapustin - "Toccatina" (op. 40 no. 3) and Pastorale (no. 6 (i think?) from the same opus)
Beethoven - "moonlight sonata" (all 3 movements)
Rachmaninoff - prelude in c sharp minor, prelude in g minor
Liszt - "Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2"
Mendelssohn - etude op. 104 no. 1
Leo Ornstein - "suicide in an airplane" (don't even ask me about it...)
these are my all time favorites
i've played all of them, except for the Liszt's bohemian rhapsody no.2
