gaspard de la nuit: ONdine
on: September 12, 2013, 01:52:10 AM
Hi guys,
so ive been working on the ondine for a while(around 9 months??) but there has always been a very subtle detail i've been a little bothered by. in the end of the last measure of the first set of double notes, there is a grace note C# that is to be played with the high D in the right hand. however, there are many artists who i hear play the C# grace note a little before the high D. for those of you who have played this, or who know the piece well, which do you prefer?

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

Do you have measure numbers?

After 9 months, you should make your own judgment on where you want the C#. It is lined up in the score below the D, however the D is a 64th note and the grace note is written as a 32nd. I'd say both on or before are acceptable, and my own choice in playing it would probably depend on my temperment at the time.

thanks for the responses guys! i decided to put the c# with the 2nd to last D, thereby making it sound more continuous.
