Fingering for Scriabin Piano Sonata No.2
on: September 14, 2013, 05:23:41 AM
Hello Everyone,
I'm trying to learning the Scriabin Piano Sonata in G sharp minor, I have already learnt the first movement and am starting to learn the notes of the second, but I find that I am spending way too much time on working out which finger and which hand plays what note etc, so I came to this forum to find out if anyone who has played this piece can share their ideas on what fingering, how you divide between the hands when playing the arpeggios, especially in the second movement (feel free to suggest fingering for the first movement as well!). There may be a few alternative fingerings to choose from, but each individual has different hands and fingers, so I am open to more suggestions if possible!
Thank you very much for your help!
Oh, and if possible, for better understanding, please upload score with fingerings on it!
Much appreciated!
Oh, and if anyone needs fingering for the first movement, please feel free to ask! I will do my best to help out too!

Cool beans, i'm learning this sonata too, *hi-5*. But i never write fingering for anything anymore, only after i finish learning i might write it down in case i pick up the piece later on. I find writing down fingering when you first start off might impede your learning since it might change later on when you get more comfortable or play faster. When you play slowly without knowing all the notes yet, you won't know which fingering is efficient or not, because inefficient fingering still works at slow tempi. try playing it different ways and the fingering which you can play fastest with will stick.

Hi theholygideons,
When I started learning the first movement, I would just let my fingers do whatever because everything fits quite comfortably under the hand and at andante, the second movement however also fits reasonably well, but I've got a small stretch and even at b.2 I'm pondering if I should use a legato or detached fingering for the RH, I'm swaying towards legato, because it will make the music sound better. However, the legato fingering is not something that is 'comfortable'.
Thank you for your suggestions.
