Really anything you can do at the piano you get to play on now and then will keep you in better shape than you think. True, you won't keep proficient conditioning alive but remotely you will keep some of what you know alive. More importantly, you will keep  your hands active at the piano, even if it sounds rough right now. Then when you get back to piano seriously it should come back to you fairly fast. If you do absolutely nothing, that would be far worse for you.
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.
