Bach Cello Suite 6 Sarabande
on: September 17, 2013, 07:23:51 PM
Hi, I'm looking for the piano music for the Sarabande from Bach's Suite No.6 for solo cello. It's a really nice piece and I am looking to learn it and play it! Also, as a cellist it'd be funny to learn it on piano before the cello!

Thanks in advance!

Just read it from the cello score!

I am a cellist myself, and I cannot imagine why you would possibly want to do this.

Learn it well on cello, then you will be able to play it on piano automatically, if you have any level of chops whatsoever.

Sheet music for this is all over the web.  It is used as practice material by everything from oboe to didgerido.  Trombonists especially play all the Bach cello suites.  I would think Doug Yeo (bass trombonist with Boston Symphony) has the music with performance notes on his web page since he has recorded these, or try Mark Lusk.

There is no piano part per se, these are unaccompanied.

Most of the versions I've seen were in bass clef, though I have a French horn copy of the suites, which is of course Horn in F (mezzo soprano clef).

Hi stockyrocky,

There are many transcriptions made of this sarabande, i would suggest googling a bit (youtube maybe) for which transcription you like, post it here and we may be able to help you. I know Godowsky transcribed many of bach's cello/violin pieces, also Saint-Saens and several less famous transcribers.

Best regards,
Hans

Edit:

One of these could fulfill your wish, i can look if i have one of them when i get home from work:
